Loghurst prepares for Civil War event

CANFIELD -- Loghurst, celebrating its 200th year in the Valley, will have its annual Civil War encampment Oct. 8 and 9 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
Admission is $4 for adults and $3 for students and senior citizens.
Visitors will be able to walk through a Civil War soldier's camp, see cannon and tactical demonstrations, square dance, listen to live period music with a special Sunday morning hymn sing, and check out demonstrations on quilting and apple butter making.
Children can dress up as Union and Confederate soldiers and take part in a story time.
On Oct. 8, visitors can see a presentation from the living history group "Voices of the Confederacy."
Loghurst, believed to have served as an Underground Railroad safe house, will be open for tours.
Loghurst was built in 1805 and is the oldest remaining log house in Northeast Ohio.
