Early lead propels Springfield victory



The Tigers scored 10 quick points in the 16-6 victory over Western Reserve.
NEW MIDDLETOWN -- The Springfield High football team scored 10 points in the first quarter en route to a 16-6 victory over Western Reserve Friday in an Inter-County League contest.
The Tigers (4-1, 1-1) went ahead when senior running back Anthony Warren scored on a 39-yard run. Bryan Visingardi's extra point kick made it 7-0.
Later in the quarter, Visingardi's 26-yard field goal gave the Tigers the 10-0 lead.
Nate Schuler scored on a 8-yard run to give the Tigers a 16-0 margin in the third period.
Nick Lude caught a 15-yard TD pass from Brandon Moherman for the Blue Devils' TD in the fourth quarter.
Warren gained 174 yards on 25 attempts. The Tigers rushed 47 times for 264 yards and were 4-of-11 passing for 60.
Western Reserve had minus-27 yards on the ground and was 11-of-20 passing for 104.
Jackson-Milton 48,Sebring 8
NORTH JACKSON -- Joe Skaggs scored four touchdowns and rushed for 97 yards in 12 carries to lead Jackson-Milton.
Skaggs scored on runs of 17, 11 and 3 yards and also returned a pass interception 76 yards to key J-M (2-3, 1-1 ICL).
Nick MacLarren also paced the Bluejays with touchdown runs of 15 and 51 yards and a game-high 134 yards rushing in nine carries.
Josh Barringer ran 10 yards for J-M's other TD, and was 1-for-3 passing for 27 yards.
Sebring (1-4, 0-2 ICL) was led by Michael Weekly with 79 yards rushing in 14 carries.
The Trojans averted a shutout on Tyler Graham's 2-yard TD run after J-M went ahead 48-0.
