Youngstown Fire Department to host open house

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youngstown Fire Department will host a National Fire Prevention Day open house from 1 to 4 p.m. Oct. 2 at the main fire station downtown, 420 Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
Activities will include an American Red Cross blood drive, Second Harvest Food Bank collection, YFD chili taste contest, Safe Kids Coalition car seat safety check, Automated External Defibrillator monitor demonstration, Youngstown schools coloring and essay contest awards and a prize raffle.
The Mahoning County Sheriff's Department will distribute Kids Identikits, and the Youngstown Police Department will distribute gun locks.
Participants include Humility of Mary Health Center and Mahoning County Disaster Services, YFD fire prevention, fire investigation, juvenile fire setters and tactical rescue teams.
