Video game music has gone way beyond the bleeps and bloops of years ago. How far beyond? Check this out: two video-game music composers, Tommy Tallarico and Jack Wall have put together a nationwide tour, called Video Games Live, complete with top orchestras, video segments and laser lights. Tickets go on sale today at 11 a.m. via Tickets.com for $20 for the Nov. 26 show at Cleveland's Palace Theater. The family show will feature music from some of the most popular games, including Mario, Zelda, Halo, Metal Gear Solid, Warcraft, Myst, Castlevania, Tomb Raider and Tron.
Just announced concerts coming to House of Blues, Cleveland, include Matchbook Romance (6:30 p.m., Oct. 31, $13.50), Ratdog (8 p.m., Nov. 1, $35), Dick Dale (6 p.m., Nov. 6, $23), Disturbed (7 p.m., Nov. 16 and 17, $33.50) and Reverend Horton Heat with Supersuckers (7 p.m., Dec. 11, $16.50). The Juliana Theory return to its hometown of Pittsburgh for a show at Mr. Small's Theatre tonight at 7 p.m. Tickets to the all-ages show are available at the door for $14. Also on the bill are Lovedrug, Days Away and The Goodwill.
The Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 W. Boardman St., downtown Youngstown, will present a night of acoustic music with Robin Stone and Alexis Antes at 8 p.m. A wine and cheese reception will precede the show, beginning at 7 p.m. in the Oakland's Star Gallery. Headbangers, take note. Swedish metal band Opeth, whose new album "Ghost Reveries" went to No. 1 on Billboard's hard music chart, is on its way to America. The group will be at Cleveland's House of Blues on Nov. 6. Fans can now purchase advance tickets at a reduced rate at www.tixx1.artistarena.com/opeth. The first 13 groups of four who buy tickets online will receive after-show passes to meet the band.
Efren Ramirez, Pedro from the 2004 indie film "Napoleon Dynamite," will appear at 9 p.m. Oct. 4 in the William A. Passavant Memorial Center at Thiel College in Greenville, Pa.
Ramirez garnered critical acclaim with his quirky role in the cult hit, a story about a ninja-loving teenager growing up in the far reaches of Idaho. Ramirez portrays Pedro, the title character's best friend.
