Dispatcher pleads on falsification charges

NEWTON FALLS -- An emergency dispatcher has pleaded innocent to charges that she wrote a note saying that a police officer had resigned and that she later blamed the note on the police chief.
Amber L. Stiles-Bodnar, 32, of Cortland, was arraigned Tuesday in municipal court. She is charged with making false allegations and falsification of a police document.
Judge Thomas L. Old set trial for 1:30 p.m. Oct. 25. She was released after posting a $1,000 personal bond.
Police Chief Robert Carlson said that Stiles-Bodnar wrote a note saying that Patrolman Brian Foor was an "idiot" and that he had resigned.
The chief said the full-time police and fire dispatcher with 11 years of service bragged to other people as to what she had done. When confronted by authorities, the chief added, she blamed the note on the chief.
Carlson said the two have had an ongoing dispute.
Stiles-Bodnar was arrested Monday and remains on the job, Carlson said.
