2 Trumbull County criminal cases continued

WARREN -- Criminal cases involving former Warren basketball coach David Jenkins and Terry Maiorana, Trumbull County purchasing probe defendant, were continued to a later date Monday.
Both cases are assigned to Judge Peter J. Kontos in Trumbull County Common Pleas Court.
Jenkins attended Monday's hearing, but his attorney, J. Gerald Ingram of Youngstown, asked that a pretrial be reset for a later date. It is now scheduled for Oct. 17. His trial is still set for Nov. 14 at 11 a.m.
He is accused of killing his wife, Deana Jenkins. She was found dead in May 2004 in the Clearwater Street Northwest home the couple shared. Jenkins is a former coach of the Warren Harding High School girls basketball team and a former minister.
The case against Maiorana, which was scheduled to come to trial Monday, was continued at the request of Assistant Trumbull County Prosecutor Chris Becker, who said a witness who was to be called to testify during the trial is hospitalized with a form of leukemia. A pretrial is now set for at 8:30 a.m. Oct. 17. The trial date has not been reset.
Both defendants are free on bond.
