VOLLEYBALL/SOCCER Hubbard snaps 3 perfect skeins



The Eagles conquered three previously-unbeaten teams to climb to an 8-1 record.
WORTHINGTON -- The Hubbard High girls volleyball team handed three previously-unbeaten opponents their first losses of the season as the Eagles captured the championship in the Worthington Invitational tournament Saturday at Worthington High's gymnasium.
The Eagles (8-1) defeated Thomas Worthington (11-1), 25-23, 25-22 for the crown.
In Hubbard's other matches, the Eagles topped Worthington Kilbourne (11-1), 25-23, 25-15, and then beat Hilliard Davidson (10-1), 25-21, 15-25, 15-13.
Maggie Bogdan had 27 kills and 11 blocks to lead Hubbard. Karen Cover added 18 digs, eight kills and seven blocks.
Callie Oyler finished 24 kills, seven digs. Lauren Ferguson had 14 kills, four aces, five blocks.
Corrie Gasser had 52 assists and 12 digs. Kim Budd and Kate Toby each made 16 digs.
Girard 25-20-15,Salem 15-25-11
SALEM -- Elise Roscoe had 10 kills, two aces and two blocks, while Courtney Madden had two kills, one ace and five blocks for Girard.
Sarah Brobeck had 10 kills and three blocks while Brittany Gregory had eight kills and two blocks for Salem.

SALEM -- Meghan McDermott had 10 kills and 12 points while Kaitlin O'Patchen had eight kills, one block and 14 points for Fitch.
Girard is 10-2.

SALEM -- Brittany Gregory had 18 kills, one tip and two blocks and Sarah Brobeck had 15 kills for Salem (7-4).

UNIONTOWN -- Natasha Kassim collected 32 kills and 15 blocks to be voted to the all-tournament team for Canfield (5-6).
Kate Heagerty tacked on 43 assists while Jackie Nentwick contributed nine kills, nine blocks and 38 digs.
Also for the Cardinals, Courtney Rothbauer scored 20 points and 10 aces.
Western Reserve 25-25-26, Lisbon 16-21-24
LISBON -- Western Reserve broke Lisbon's undefeated streak.
Western Reserve (5-3) was led by: Kailyn Mowery with six kills and five blocks, Kaelyn Hrabak, four blocks, 13 points and four assists; Jenna Lischak, 15 points; Rachael Hernan, 12 kills, two blocks and 10 points; and Laney Kekic, 10 kills, eight blocks and 10 points.
Lisbon (6-1) was led by: Ashley Adams with 12 kills and two blocks; Lisa Padurean, six kills, one block and eight points; Brittany Rambo, six kills; and Abby Kibler, 10 points and eight digs.

BROOKFIELD -- Morgan Bonekovic had 10 kills, 14 digs and a block for the Warriors.

BROOKFIELD -- Brianne Ciccone led the Wildcats with five points, an ace, four kills, two blocks and two blocks.

For the Warriors, Morgan Bonekovic had 17 kills, 16 digs and three blocks.

LORDSTOWN -- Ashley Keller scored 14 points, with three digs and four blocks to pace the Red Devils (6-2).
Megan Gibson added 31 assists, seven kills, six blocks, 11 points and three aces. Ashley Gibbs had nine kills. Branna Blodgett had 10 kills and 10 assists.

NEWTON FALLS -- Danielle Kaley and Samantha Zaczyk each scored a goal for the Pirates (4-5). Kristy Dubinsky and Katie Dubinsky had an assist apiece.
Courtney Collins scored the goal for the Tigers (3-5-2)
Goalkeepers Allison Snyder and Jessica Moser combined for four saves. Teresa Strevler had eight saves for the Pirates.
