Long movies (7 p.m.): Facing competition such as tonight's Emmy Awards, rival networks often schedule movies that they hope will hold at least some viewers all evening. There are two such examples tonight -- "Pearl Harbor" (2001) on ABC and "The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers" (2002) on the WB.
"Sandlot" doubleheader (7 p.m., ABC Family): The 1993 baseball movie, aimed at kids and set in the 1960s, will be followed at 9 p.m. by this year's direct-to-video sequel starring James Earl Jones and Cole Evan Weiss.
"King of the Hill" (7:30 p.m., Fox): When Hank discovers that Dale and Boomhauer take yearly vacations together, he invites his family and Bill along for a weekend at the beach. During the trip, Hank realizes that his friends avoid him because he's uptight. Peggy advises Hank to throw caution to the wind and have some fun with his buddies. The results leave Hank and the guys overboard in the "Hank's On Board" 10th season premiere episode.
"The Emmy Awards" (8 p.m., CBS): The 57th annual event will be shown live from the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. Ellen DeGeneres, praised for her handling of the role at the 2001 ceremony that was postponed because of the 9/11 attacks, will return as host.
"Dazed and Confused" (8 p.m., AMC): One of those "little" movies that had a big impact, "Dazed and Confused" (1993) was the first big break for young actors such as Ben Affleck, Matthew McConaughey and Parker Posey. It will be followed tonight at 10 by "Making Dazed," a new documentary about a 10-year reunion of the cast and crew at the home of filmmaker Richard Linklater.
"Secrets of the Tornado" (8 p.m., National Geographic Channel): This new installment of the "Explorer" series includes examination of a "worst-case scenario" that may seem more worrisome after what Hurricane Katrina did to New Orleans. The question here is, "What if a giant tornado slammed into downtown Dallas?"
