'Autobahn' at KSUTC
CHAMPION -- Kent Trumbull Theatre will present "Autobahn" on Sept. 29-30 and Oct. 1-2. Showtimes are at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, and 3 p.m. Sunday.
"Autobahn" is a series of seven vignettes set in the front seat of a car. Each vignette explores the ethos of perception and relationship, from a make-out session gone awry to a kidnapping thinly disguised as a road trip.
The result is an unsettling montage that reveals the force of words left unsaid while illuminating the interplay between intention and morality.
Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for students and $6 for seniors. This play is not recommended for children under 16. Call (330) 847-8700 for information.
Piano, percussion set
YOUNGSTOWN -- "Music for Two Pianos and Percussion" will be the theme for the Dana School of Music's evening performance Wednesday. The repertoire will include movements from B & eacute;la Bart & oacute;k's "Sonata for Two Pianos and Percussion" and South African composer Jamie Wilding's composition "Mayan Rites." Performers are Ted Rounds and Anthony Donofrio on percussion and Gerrey Noh and Jamie Wilding on piano.
The evening performance will take place at 8 p.m. Wednesday in Bliss Recital Hall, Wick Avenue, on the Youngstown State University campus. The event is free and open to the public. Parking is available in the Wick Avenue parking deck for a nominal fee.
Tabla artist at Thiel
GREENVILLE, Pa. -- Sandip Burman, a Grammy Award-winning Indian tabla artist, will perform at 7 p.m. Tuesday in the Lutheran Heritage Room of Thiel College's Howard Miller Student Center. Thiel philosophy professor and guitarist Dr. Arthur White of Greenville will perform a piece with Burman during the performance. Burman, a native of Durgapur, India, began playing the Indian hand drums at the age of six. The performance is free and open to the public.
Dance classes
YOUNGSTOWN -- The YSU Dance Ensemble will host its annual Dance Festival from 9 a.m. to 5:15 p.m. Saturday at Beeghly Physical Education Center, Fifth Avenue, on the Youngstown State University campus.
Participants must be at least 13 and can choose from 15 different technique classes being offered in ballet, jazz, musical theater, burlesque, cabaret bellydance, salsa, swing, hip-hop and contemporary partnering.
The day's culminating activity will be an informal performance featuring work choreographed by the guest artists.
The registration fee is $35 for the day, $20 for half day, and $10 per class.

Oakland opener
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Oakland Center for the Arts, 220 W. Boardman St., opens its 2005-06 season with "The Sisters Rosensweig," Wendy Wasserstein's captivating portrayal of three sisters who reunite after a lengthy separation and come to terms with their diverse lives.
Wasserstein's comic drama lifts up the transformative power of love, of sisterhood and of life.
Admired by critics for its humor and insight, the play earned both an Outer Critics Circle Award and a Tony Award nomination for best play.
The Oakland Center production is directed by L.J. Tessier.
"The Sisters Rosensweig" runs Oct. 7-8, 14-16 and 21-22. Friday and Saturday performances are 8 p.m. Sunday matinee is 2 p.m. Tickets are $15 ($12 for seniors, $10 for students). Call (330) 746-0404 for reservations.
Freedom Flags concert
NEW CASTLE -- The Pulitzer Prize-winning picture by Joe Rosenthal of The Associated Press of the flag raising on Iwo Jima is one of the most recognizable images ever recorded. Almost everyone has seen it.
Now you have the opportunity to see the actual video that Marine Corps cameramen took to capture this historic event.
At the New Castle Playhouse's Freedom Flags concert Nov. 4, Irish entertainer Cahal Dunne will pay tribute to the U.S. Marines by commemorating the 60th anniversary of the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima.
The Marine Corps archives branch at the Gray Research Center in Quantico, Va., has made available to the New Castle Area Marine Corps League a copy of the footage that military cameramen took of the Marines landing on Iwo Jima and the flag raising on Mount Suribachi.
