Women's ministry school
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- Women of all faiths may attend the Second School of Women's Ministries on Oct. 15 at First Baptist Church, 984 W. Maitland Lane.
Dr. Leland Eliason, provost of Bethel Seminary, St. Paul, Minn., will present "Leadership Principle and Practices." Women will explore the biblical teaching on being a leader.
This is the first of six units of training that applies to any ministry. The registration fee is $15; tuition for each session is $60 and covers the instruction, instructor's handouts, snacks and lunch at each session.

Join King's Kids Club
LIBERTY -- All children from the community, preschool through sixth grade, are invited to join King's Kids Club at Church Hill United Methodist Church, 189 Churchill-Hubbard Road. Sessions will be from 4:45 to 7 p.m. Wednesdays, starting next week, and scheduled through December. The free program will include music, Bible stories, crafts, games and dinner.

Midweek service offered
MINERAL RIDGE -- First Presbyterian Church, 3654 Main St., has scheduled a midweek worship service at 7 p.m. Wednesdays that will continue through early November. The 30-40 minute service, which will include hymns, prayer and Scripture, offers an alternative for those unable to attend Sunday worship.
50 years for preschool
CANFIELD -- The 50th anniversary of the Canfield United Methodist Church Preschool will be celebrated Sunday during the 10:30 a.m. worship service.
Canfield Mayor Lee Frey will read a proclamation honoring the preschool. Teachers and pupils past and present will be honored during the service.
In 1955, the preschool was organized by June Ullman and Margaret Tuta. Anna Noll was the preschool's first director, and Muriel Hampton was hired to teach. Mrs. Hampton became the director in 1957 and remained so until 1998. Both she and Roseanne Peluso, the current director, have been honored as Ohio's Preschool Teacher of the Year.
Concert at Mennonite church
NORTH LIMA -- North Lima Mennonite Church, 90 Mennonite Drive, will host 3 for 1, a gospel trio from North Carolina, during a concert planned at 7 p.m. next Saturday. A spaghetti dinner will be held from 4 to 6:30 p.m. with dine-in and takeout service. The cost is $6 for adults and $3 for 5- to 12-year-olds. Seekers tackle issues
HOWLAND -- The Rev. Vicki Kumorowski, pastor of Howland Community Church, 198 Niles-Cortland Road S.E., is leading an adult study group, Faith Seekers, which will meet from 6 to 7 p.m. Sundays through Nov. 27 in the John Howland Room at the church. The group will discuss reproductive and genetic technology and how those topic relate to spiritual issues.
Religion education classes
YOUNGSTOWN -- Our Lady of Hungary Church, 545 N. Belle Vista Ave., will hold adult religious education classes for baptism, First Communion and confirmation at 7 p.m. Oct. 6. Registration deadline is Oct. 3 by calling (330) 799-6829.
Church plans concert
KINSMAN -- Kinsman Presbyterian Church, 6383 Church St., will host Dane Bailey, "The Singing Auctioneer," in concert at 7 p.m. Oct. 4. Bailey, of Fort Wayne, Ind., has been in the music business 30 years and has performed throughout the Southern states at churches. His last recording, "The Good Old Times," features old hymns.

Concert for relief effort
YOUNGSTOWN -- Early Morning Church of God in Christ, 1437 Stewart St., will sponsor a Hurricane Katrina Relief and gospel concert at 5 p.m. today featuring Christian All Stars, Spiritual Angles, Mighty Golden Wonders, Anointed Horner Gospel Singers, Anointed Voices and Unity Gospel Singers.
Meditation service set
YOUNGSTOWN -- Vincent Lisi, president of Now Creations, will present a message and meditation program for the Youngstown Spiritual Society from 10 to 11 a.m. Sunday at the Ursuline Center, 4300 Shields Road. The topic is "But Are You Doing Your Best Today?" Meditation and shared prayer will follow.
Gospel chorus anniversary
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Gospel Chorus of New Hope Baptist Church, 437 Albert St., will celebrate its 36th anniversary with a "homecoming concert" at 5 p.m. Sunday. Participating will be the Voices of Hope and former musicians James Simon and Mark Rheins.
Harvest tea planned
STRUTHERS -- The Aureola Wilson Missionary Society at St. John African Methodist Episcopal Church, 97 W. Washington Blvd., will hold its harvest tea at 4 p.m. Sunday. Special guests will be the cast of "The Journey Home: A Christian Fashion Show" directed by Lois Thornton of Tabernacle Baptist Church in Youngstown.
Speaker at Zion Hill
COLUMBIANA -- Paul Bartholomew, pastor of Mohican Church of the Brethren in Salem, will speak on "One Thing We're Doing Wrong" at 6 p.m. Sunday at Zion Hill Church of the Brethren, 14550 New Buffalo Road, where his father, John Bartholomew, is pastor.
Gospel extravaganza
YOUNGSTOWN -- Antioch Missionary Baptist Church Women of God Ministry will host the first gospel musical extravaganza at 4 p.m. Sept. 25 at the church, 110 Funston St. "Take Me Back" is the theme of the event featuring local singing groups.
