Structures' restoration nears completion

WARREN -- The $500,000 exterior restoration of two historic city-owned Mahoning Avenue structures is about 90 percent complete, according to the city official coordinating the project.
The restoration of the Kinsman House, 303 Mahoning Ave. N.W., and the adjacent Connecticut Land Co. office, 321 Mahoning Ave. N.W., which began in early April, is to be completed in early October, according to Heather McMahon, the city's urban design and grants coordinator.
The work, paid for by federal grants, is being done by Jance Construction Co. of Mentor. It includes masonry repair, window and porch restoration, column reconstruction and exterior painting.
The 1832-vintage Kinsman House is on the National Register of Historic Places. The early 19th century land office building was relocated from City Hall Park to its present site in the early 1840s.
