Night manager of McDonald's is robbed of receipts at gunpoint

A barbershop owner was also robbed.
YOUNGSTOWN -- The night manager at McDonald's restaurant at 3034 Mahoning Ave. had a gun pointed at his head during a robbery but when the robber pulled the trigger, the gun didn't fire, police said.
The 18-year-old manager told police that his cousin arrived at the restaurant early Friday to take him to a bank on South Meridian Road to drop off the night deposit and then take him home. The cousin also agreed to give a ride to two other restaurant employees.
When everyone was inside the car, a man ran up and pointed a gun at the night manager, seated next to the driver, demanded money and pulled the trigger, reports show. The manager turned over $6 from his pocket and the night deposit bags, police said.
The robber ran to a waiting car, a light brown Chevrolet, driven by an accomplice. The car sped off eastbound on Mahoning Avenue.
South Avenue robbery
In an unrelated robbery Friday, the owner of Mike's Barber Shop on South Avenue had $75 taken from him at gunpoint, reports show. The victim told police he walked out of his shop around 3:45 a.m. and was approached by a gunman wearing a dark-colored baseball cap pulled down over his face.
The shop owner said the robber ran off in an unknown direction after taking the cash.
