Costanzo moved to Oklahoma facility

Costanzo's law license remains suspended.

WARREN -- Suspended Warren attorney Maridee L. Costanzo temporarily has been moved to the Federal Transfer Center in Oklahoma City, Okla., from the Akron-area cell she has occupied for several months.
Costanzo, 47, was detained in Ohio while her federal and state cases were being tried. In early August, a federal judge sentenced Costanzo to eight years in federal prison for trying to pay someone to kill her estranged husband, Warren attorney Roger Bauer.
She also was convicted in Trumbull County in August on weapons charges. Those convictions did not add to her sentence because they were ordered to be served concurrently with her federal sentence.
She was sent to Oklahoma City on Monday, said Carla Wilson, a spokeswoman for the federal Bureau of Prisons. The facility in western Oklahoma holds 1,500 male and female inmates.
Costanzo's Cleveland attorney, David L. Doughten, has said Costanzo initially may be housed at a federal prison medical center, but Wilson said Oklahoma City is not a medical facility.
Not final move
Wilson said the facility is a "holdover" or "transfer" center, meaning this is not the facility where she will spend most of her sentence. She added that prison rules are that her designated facility will not be made public until she is transferred there.
Costanzo's county charges stem from a March traffic stop when she was a passenger in a car driven by William D. Cindea, 56, of Warren. Police found a loaded gun tucked in the front of Costanzo's pants, reports state.
The Ohio Supreme Court Web site lists Costanzo's law license as suspended May 26. It was suspended at the request of the Ohio State Bar Association.
A Supreme Court spokesman said as of Friday, Costanzo's license remains suspended and that she has not filed to surrender the license. In federal court, Costanzo stated, "I'll never practice law again."
Cindea has pleaded guilty in federal court to being a felon in possession of a weapon. He will be sentenced in federal court Sept. 28.
