Facility reports case of possible abuse

AUSTINTOWN -- The manager of Gateways to Better Living, 230 Idaho Road, reported to police that a patient there said a nurse's aide physically abused her.
Robert Wirtz told police that a workshop supervisor at the assisted-living home reported the woman's complaint to him.
Wirtz made his report Wednesday. The patient said she was assaulted Monday. Wirtz told police a nurse examined the patient Tuesday and found no marks on her body. She complained that the aide struck her in the stomach and slapped her legs.
The patient, 51, is in a wheelchair, police reports said.
No charges have been filed as of late Thursday.
