Bartender is injured when hit by barstool

AUSTINTOWN -- A bartender at Bill's Place on Mahoning Avenue was injured when a man threw a bar stool and hit her in the head, police reports say.
According to the report, the bartender took the man's drink away after last call Wednesday night.
The victim and witnesses said the man verbally abused her, then picked up the metal stool and threw it over the bar. The bartender fell to the floor.
The report said the woman got to her feet and threw a glass at the man, who already was running out the door. Other patrons chased him, but didn't catch him.
The woman's head was swollen; the barstool hit her in the eye, reports said.
Police said the man contacted them several minutes later and volunteered a statement about what happened. He was told to stay away from the bar, or criminal-trespass charges would be filed against him. No charges were filed as of Thursday.
