Youngstown State plans annual pre-college workshop in Campbell

YOUNGSTOWN -- Youngstown State University will sponsor its third annual off-campus pre-college workshop from 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday in the cafeteria of Campbell Memorial High School, 280 Sixth St., Campbell.
The workshop will focus on admissions, financial aid, pre-college testing, college prep courses, perspectives from current college students on what college life is like, residential hall living, majors and other information. It is open to all area high school students in grades nine through 12 and their parents.
"Many parents think the ninth grade is too early to start preparing for college, until they attend one of our workshops," said Jimmy Myers, YSU director of equal opportunity and diversity. "With the increasing complexity and cost of higher education today, most of the parents and students soon discover that it is never too early to start preparing for college."
Myers said: "If the student plans to go to college, he or she will benefit from this workshop. ... I also think parents will benefit just as much."
Parking for the workshop will be available in the student/faculty lot near the football stadium on Sanderson Street.
A free continental breakfast will be available before the start of the workshop, as well as during late registration. For registration or additional information about the workshop, call (330) 941-3370.
