Poland rolls past Canfield, 4-1



The Bulldogs improved to 5-1 and 2-0 in the Metro Athletic Conference.
POLAND -- Jessi Toth, Ashley Cuba, Felicia Delisio and Maureen Malone scored as Poland defeated Canfield 4-1 Wednesday in a Metro Athletic Conference match.
Mandy Reardon, Toth, Sarah Anderson and Jackie Cavalier each made assists for the Bulldogs (5-1, 2-0 MAC). Sam Stanich made five saves.
Audra Frimpong scored the goal for the Cardinals. Poland made 12 shots on goal and Canfield made six. Ashley Hunter, goalkeeper for the Cardinals, made nine saves.
Howland 2, Niles 0
HOWLAND -- Erin Gilmour scored both goals for the Tigers (7-0-1, 3-0 MAC). Chelsea Palma and Sarah Ward each made an assists.
The Tigers made seven shots on goal and the Red Dragons (6-2, 0-2) made three.
Kelsey Mikesell, goalkeeper, made five saves for Niles. Melissa Airhart made three for the Tigers and it was her third shutout of the season.
Fitch 1, Massillon Jackson 1
MASSILLON -- Fitch's Dina Harris scored the game-tying goal off an assist by Danielle Truswell at the 25:22 mark of the second half of a Federal League game.
Cara Calai made 19 saves for Fitch (2-3-2, 1-0-1).
Emily Rhodes scored for Jackson (5-1-1, 2-0-1) and Ashley Lamb made four saves.
JVs: Jackson won, 2-0.
Boardman 1, Uniontown Lake 1
UNIONTOWN -- The Spartans (2-0-1) struck first less than 10 minutes into the match on a ball played by Katie Stoll to Danielle Deley.
Boardman's defense held Lake throughout the first half but surrendered a goal midway through the second period.
JVs: Boardman won, 3-0.
Champion 1, Warren JFK 0
WARREN -- Jessica Bennett, with an assist from Gina Calderone, scored the games only goal in the first half.
Champion (5-2-1) outshot the Eagles 9-7, while goalkeeper Kelley Dillon made four saves. JFK (6-1-2) had six saves from goalie Kelli Ryan.
Ursuline 4, Beaver Local 3
LISBON -- Mariah Snyder and Katelyn Tondo scored two goals apiece for the Irish (3-3-1, 1-0 SVC). Mariah Snyder, Hannah Snyder, Geralyn Tondo-Steele and Katelyn Tondo-Steele each made an assist.
Jennifer Sitarik scored two goals and Andrea Eisenhart added one for the Beavers (1-5-1, 0-2).
Ursuline goalkeeper Jolanta Carkido made nine saves. Leah Wilson of Beaver Local made nine.
Newton Falls 6, Liberty 0
LIBERTY -- Mary Jo Spletzer, Casee Piquet and Emily Montgomery each scored two goals for Newton Falls in a Trumbull Athletic Conference game.
Kourtni Collins made two assists, Kaicee Kubicina, Bethany Runtas, Caitlin Martin and Monica Moszaros each made one assist for the Tigers (3-4-2, 2-3).
Amanda Pagano made two saves and Jessica Moser made one.
Michelle Dykes made 17 saves for Liberty (0-8-1, 0-6) and Mandy Milligan made three.
Badger 11, Pymatuning Valley 1
KINSMAN -- Cayla Arnold scored four goals to spark he Braves (4-3). Hannah Miller added three goals and Shannon Sudon made two. Amanda Gordon and Michelle Fitch each made one.
Miller, Sudon, Sarah Dunfee made two assists apiece, while Fitch, Tara Sudon, Maddie Anthony, Amelia Deraway made one apiece.
Kayla Patrick scored the goal for Pymatuning Valley (0-6).
Badger made 38 shots on goal and Py Valley made two.
Stephanie Coe, goalkeeper, made 19 saves for the losers.
Boys
COLUMBIANA -- Cory Leeson scored four goals, while Greg Bing and James Frost added one apiece as the Crestview High boys soccer shutout Columbiana 6-0 Wednesday in a Tri-County League game.
Frost made two assists and Mitchell See and Wendy Twaddle each added one for the Rebels (5-1-2, 2-0-1).
The Clippers slipped to 0-7.
