YSU alumni to host floating tailgate

YOUNGSTOWN -- It could be the largest football game floating tailgate party in history.
The Youngstown State University Office of Alumni Relations has reserved three Gateway Clipper boats to host the party before YSU's football game against the University of Pittsburgh on Sept. 24 in Pittsburgh.
Stadium parking lots open at 10 a.m., and the party begins at 11 a.m. on the boats anchored near the gates to Heinz Field, where the game starts at 2 p.m.
There will be space for about 2,000 party-goers.
The menu for the party includes fried chicken, hot sausage, hot dogs, penne pasta in marinara sauce, corn on the cob, coleslaw and watermelon.
Tickets for the tailgate party are $15. There also will be a cash bar on each of the boats.
Tickets for the game are $25, and parking passes will cost an additional $20 for a car and $40 for a recreational vehicle.
The Office of Alumni Relations opted for a floating tailgate because there is no space available for a large, more traditional tailgate party adjacent to Heinz Field.
