Homecoming for 910th Airlift Wing is set

VIENNA -- A ceremonial "final" homecoming for Air Force Reserve's 910th Airlift Wing, some 500 of whom have been activated over the past four years, is at noon Friday at the Youngstown Air Reserve Station.
At noon Tuesday, a 910th C-130 arrived carrying 18 reservists, including air crew members and operational support and aircraft maintenance personnel, from Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar.
On Friday, some 20 more members of the 910th will arrive home for what the 910th is calling a final homecoming, as the largest period of activation in the history of the air base comes to an end.
Deployment of C-130 aircraft from the 910th to support Operation Iraqi Freedom is being switched to other C-130 units, 910th officials said.
All 910th members who were activated during the last four years in support of Operations Enduring Freedom, Joint Forge or Iraqi Freedom are invited to come to Friday's ceremony in their desert uniforms and welcome home the final group and honor the whole effort, officials said.
Although Friday's event will mark a ceremonial end to large-scale deployments from the 910th for some time, individuals from the wing continue to volunteer for overseas duty and some others will be activated to fill critical positions.
