East Sider accused of shooting at nephew during argument

YOUNGSTOWN -- Police have charged an East Side man with felonious assault and using a weapon while intoxicated, saying he shot at his nephew during an argument Sunday evening.
Police arrested Jay Anderson Jr., 54, at his residence in the 2200 block of McCartney Road around 11:30 p.m. after they found the victim in the yard saying he had been shot at and saw the uncle standing near his garage with a handgun, according to a police report.
The man told police his uncle fired one round into the air before pointing the gun at him and firing a second round into the driveway near the victim's feet, the report shows. Police found a bullet in the area as well as a 9 mm handgun with one round in the chamber, the report says.
Anderson was arrested without incident and taken to the Mahoning County jail.
