Deadline nears for ACT registration

Any high school students bound for college can take the ACT college admissions exam Oct. 22, the next national test date.
The deadline for registration is Friday, and students can register online or by mail, though a mailed registration must have a postmark no later than Friday's date. Test sites will be announced to registrants latter.
The fee is $29 without the writing test, or $43 with the writing test. There is a late registration deadline of Sept. 30, and it carries an $18 late fee.
Registration materials are available from high school guidance counselors, or students can register on the ACT Web site at www.actstudent.org.
ACT scores are accepted by nearly all colleges in the nation, including all Ivy League schools, and the exam is offered in all 50 states.
The test is an academic achievement exam that includes English, math, reading and science. There is also an optional writing test for students applying to colleges that require a writing test score.
