AUTO RACING Championships Saturday at Sharon
Drivers in all five divisions will compete for season championships.
HARTFORD -- There will be eight feature races, double points and the division championships on the line Saturday at Sharon Speedway.
Drivers in all five divisions compete in the final point races of the season to determine the 2005 champions. The night is sponsored by John Grundy Company LPA, Kevin Heater & amp; Company CPS, Cerni International and South Py Suzuki.
Prior to the final showdown, the Warren Harley-Davidson Sprints, Coy Brothers Trucking E-Mods and Tom's Sewer and Drain Pure Stocks will make up their feature races rained out Aug. 13.
With two features remaining, Jarod Larson leads Kevin Schaeffer by 38 points in the Warren Harley-Davidson Sprints division.
Closest division battle
In the closest battle of the five divisions, Jeff Sharp holds a 10-point lead over Bill Thomas in the Coy Brothers Trucking E-Mods division.
Drivers in the Tom's Sewer and Drain Pure Stocks division also have two features to go, but Steve Dapolito, who has lead the points all year, has a virtual lock on the season title, leading Michael Aley by 271 points.
Alan Dellinger and Rex King will be battling for the Gibson-Governor Insurance Modifieds crown in their final feature. Dellinger leads King by 66 points.
Entering the final Green Flag Sprints division feature, Jim Weller Jr. leads Guy Griffin by 25 points and Goob Schuller by 79 points.
Spectator Drags
Weekly winners of the track's Spectator Drags will return Saturday to race for a cash prize in the Spectator Drags finale during intermission.
There will be discounts on food and merchandise for the fans. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for kids 12-15 and free for children 11 and under. Pit passes are $22. Gates open at 4 p.m., and racing starts at 6.
