A look at the real America

Portsmouth Daily Times: After Hurricane Katrina brought her fury to the Gulf Coast, Islamic extremists were quick to celebrate, claiming "private Katrina" had joined the global jihad.
As preposterous as that statement is, it does go a long way in explaining the extent of the horror. Images from the area day after day give America a glimpse of the devastation.
However, there is another side to this tragedy, a side that isn't a theme but is instead told one story at a time, one person at a time. It's a story that tells about the real America.
While Islamic extremists celebrate the loss of life and the struggle for survival, America is rolling up its sleeves. It's ready to show the world how it takes care of its own.
