Volunteer luncheon
BOARDMAN -- Hospice of the Valley is sponsoring a volunteer appreciation luncheon for its volunteers in Trumbull, Mahoning and Columbiana counties at 11:30 a.m. Sept. 29 at the Holiday Inn, 7410 South Ave.
Hospice of the Valley volunteers logged more than 17,000 hours and almost 64,000 miles for companion care, mailings, office support, bereavement support, and fund raising.
An original watercolor, "Butterflies and Poppies," created by 25-year honoree Phyllis Higgins, will be raffled off at the event. Higgins did the painting especially for the organization to help raise funds for a butterfly garden at the future in-patient facility.
