Tod Engine Foundation sets open house

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Tod Engine Foundation is holding an open house from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the Tod Engine Foundation at 2261 Hubbard Road to showcase the work that has been accomplished toward restoring the Tod Engine.
The Tod Engine is a stationary steam engine built in Youngstown by the William Tod Company in 1914 and used to power a rolling mill at the Youngstown Sheet & amp; Tube Brier Hill Works until 1979.
Weighing in at more than 250 tons, it is one of the largest stationary steam engines in the United States. It was declared a Historic Mechanical and Materials Engineering Landmark in 1997.
The Tod Engine Foundation is reassembling the engine at its facility on Hubbard Road where it will be restored and exhibited for the public. It will receive a full restoration to operating condition and will be operated on a regular basis.
