Show winners named by men's garden club

YOUNGSTOWN -- There were 279 adult entries and 41 youth entries in the horticultural show sponsored by the Men's Garden Club of Youngstown on Aug. 27 and 28 at the Davis Educational and Visitors Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens, Mill Creek Park.
The following winners were announced at the event: Hugh Earnhart won the adult show with 27 points; Don Brown was second with 25 points; and Diana Mullins was third with 16 points.
Rodney Toth took the Best of Show award in the adult division with his "Dahlia-Mom and Dad" entry, and Ty Sexton took the youth Best of Show award with his "Hanging Basket."
Other youth winners were Rebecca Hartz, who was first with 21 points; Robert Voland, second with 20 points; and Ty Sexton, third with 13 points.
The adult winner in the Big Tomato category was Bill Fassos with his 2-pound, 6-ounce tomato, and the youth winner was Collin Dotson with his 2-pound entry.
