WESTMINSTER
Aaron Titus (Badger High), a freshman on the men's cross country team, had the top time for the Titans in the season-opening annual Fisher Invitational. Titus had a time of 31 minutes, 44.1 seconds to place 41st out of 84 runners as Westminster placed eighth of nine teams. Freshman Andrew Brown (Hickory) placed 55th in 32:58.8 while junior Jared Polish (Fitch) was 57th in 33:36.9. Sophomore Joe Knott (West Middlesex) is also on the roster.
Junior Amy Carroll (Sharon) had the second-best time for the women's team, which placed seventh of 10 teams. Carroll was 46th in 22:20.5.
In women's soccer, Christa Andamasaris (Champion), a junior forward, scored the Titans' only goal in a loss to Otterbein.
In volleyball, sophomore outside hitter Diana Conzett (Hubbard) had a team-best nine kills and senior outside hitter Erin Hanks (Mineral Ridge) had eight as Westminster lost to Mount Union. Junior Rachael Cooper (Laurel) set up a team-high 18 assists while junior middle hitter Katie McDermott (Fitch) had eight blocks (four solo blocks and four assists) against Mount Union. Westminster then beat Concord as Conzett had 13 kills, Hanks added 11 and Jessica Cooper (Laurel) had 10. Rachael Cooper contributed 26 assists and eight aces while McDermott had five blocks. Westminster lost to Calvin as Conzett had a team-high seven kills and Rachael Cooper 16 assists. The Titans beat Case Western Reserve as Hinks had 14 kills while McDermott and Jessica Cooper had eight apiece, and Rachael Cooper a team-high 36 assists.
Alex Castillo (Fitch) and Keith Little (Ursuline) are members of the men's soccer team. Castillo is a junior midfielder while Little is a sophomore forward.
JOHN CARROLL
Jenny Sopkovich (Girard) is a junior on the women's soccer team. Sopkovich plays forward and is a two-year letter winner.
Jessica Yovich (Lakeview) is a senior on the volleyball team. Yovich is a defensive specialist and a letter winner.
Cara Graneto (Canfield) is a freshman member of the women's golf team.
Gina LuBonovic (Poland) is a sophomore on the women's cross country team. LuBonovic won a letter last season.
OHIO WESLEYAN
Steffi Graf (Poland), a sophomore outside hitter for the volleyball team, is off to a strong start this season. Graf was a standout in the recent Oberlin Invitational. She had a team-high 24 digs with five kills as Ohio Wesleyan swept Oberlin in the third-place match. Graf also had 16 kills as the Bishops rallied from a 2-0 deficit to beat Grove City. She also had five kills in a win over Lake Erie and a team-best three blocks in a loss to Bluffton. Last year as a freshman, Graf averaged 2.5 kills a game in part-time action.
P.J. Booth (Poland) is a freshman forward-midfielder on the men's soccer team.
MALONE
Luke McCluggage (Jackson-Milton) is a sophomore on the men's cross country team. McCluggage helped the Pioneers to win the Buffalo State (N.Y.) College Invitational. He rounded out Malone's scoring with a seventh-place finish in 27:24.
In women's soccer, Taryn Carlson (Poland) is a junior defender-midfielder. Carlson made the 2004 All-American Mideast Conference team as an honorable mention.
In men's soccer, Rick King (Howland) is a junior midfielder and forward. Last year, he had four goals and two assists.
