At first, her healing work involved human clients, but she found a calling in dealing with four-footed clients.

As a child, Morgen Espe always had a love for and deep connection with animals. As an adult, she has melded her years of training in various forms of energy work and her desire to communicate with animals.
Espe, of Worthington, Ohio, near Columbus, is now a nationally known animal communicator, and she will be in Youngstown to share her knowledge.
Training
Espe began her energy training about 20 years ago. As a teenager, she was exposed to the work of Paul Dennison, Ph.D. creator of Educational Kinesiology (Edu-K). He lived in California but traveled all over the country, and Espe had sessions with him when he came to New Jersey, to work on her personal emotional issues.
"His work was so powerful and life-altering for me," said Espe. "In my 20s, I started traveling all over the country, to take his workshops. Edu-K deals with mind/body, emotions and emotional release. You touch different parts of the body that opens up different emotional realms. Each organ stores different emotions."
Edu-K provided a stimulus for Espe to explore other forms of energy work, including Touch for Health and Therapeutic Touch, which has some similarities to Reiki, and also Emotional Release.
In addition, she has worked with healing herbs (Nature's Sunshine), most of her life, which she learned from her mom, who is a nurse. "I combined all that I learned to create my own method of opening up emotional centers to release whatever charge is causing the problem, from the energy/electrical realm," said Espe. "I also work to balance energy fields so the body can heal itself."
Other careers
Espe at first did her healing work with human clients, in addition to having various other careers, including owning a nail salon, cookie shop, a gymnastics school, and teaching skiing and dancing, and working as an Actors' Equity member, dancing on Cadillac and Scandinavian World Cruises. But she thought healing was her true calling, and about 12 years ago, while living in San Diego, took a two-hour lecture at the Learning Annex with Brigitte Noel on Animal Communication. "Brigitte reminded me of what I already knew," said Espe. "My cats taught me the rest. They helped me remember that this is what I have been doing all my life."
Espe said that her cats were the ones who actually said the first words she could understand. "I sat down one day and told them I was going to talk to them, and wanted them to talk to me," she said. "Cella was the first to talk to me, and I remember thinking that it took about 40 seconds, but when I looked at the clock, 40 minutes had passed. Time stood still. And I knew this was real, because they had concepts I would have never thought of. They actually used words I didn't even know, and later had to look up in the dictionary. The words they used were so profound, one word summed up what I would have said in a whole paragraph. Animals are our greatest teachers and healers because they are so connected. They teach us about unconditional love, forgiveness."
Horse on the phone
Espe said she recently conversed with a horse through a phone interview. The horse's person was concerned because the horse would not load into its trailer.
"The horse told me it stinks in there," said Espe. "So I asked the person, and she said it was a new trailer, and smelled like rubber. The horse wanted to have carrot juice sprayed in it. That made sense to me, because carrot is a comfort smell to horses, which means love and nurturing. But I never would have thought of that."
Espe said that animals have such amazing insight. "Their answers are not only in concern for their person, but for the highest and best good for everyone," she said.
Espe also talked about her experience with ovarian cancer three years ago.
"My cat Nami, who was my mom's feral kitten, had never let us hold him. The day I came home from the hospital, with 57 staples in me, he jumped on me, and stayed there for three months. I asked him why I had this disease, and he told me it was because I needed to start taking care of myself, rather than taking care of everyone else first. He balanced my energy field, and I didn't have one sad day. I felt peaceful the whole time, and knew I was going to be OK. And that is when I wrote my book, 'Whispers of Heaven ... Excerpts from The Animals' Voice.' I called it that because the animals are constantly whispering messages, if we will only listen. We need to acknowledge this gift from the Universe."
