Family hosts party in gardens for Pompili 50th



XCANFIELD -- Mr. and Mrs. Vincent Pompili, 50 Squires Court, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary with family and friends during a party Aug. 14 at Fellows Riverside Gardens in Mill Creek Park, Youngstown.
Hosts for the event were the couple's children and their spouses, Karen and Kevin Klasic of Lansdale, Pa., and Vincent and Suzanne Pompili and Eugene and Marie Pompili, all of Hudson. There are six granddaughters in the family.
The anniversary event began with a Mass concelebrated by the Rev. Robert Stec, director of vocations for the Cleveland Catholic Diocese, and the Rev. Deacon Donald Billy of St. Ann Ukrainian Catholic Church in Austintown, where the couple are members.
Mr. Pompili and the former Mary Jane Cherniga were married July 30, 1955, at Holy Trinity Ukrainian Catholic Church in Youngstown.
Mr. Pompili is the owner of Vince's Barbershop in Hubbard. Mrs. Pompili, who is a member of the Red Hat Society and is active in the Cursillo Movement, is retired from Youngstown State University.
