MORGANTOWN, W.Va. -- Adam Bednarik threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score to lead West Virginia to a 35-7 win over Wofford Saturday night.
Five different players scored for the Mountaineers (2-0), who had 339 yards rushing with six different tailbacks.
But reserve quarterback Pat White led the way on the ground with 107 yards to become the ninth quarterback in school history to top 100 yards rushing in a game.
The Mountaineers limited Division I-AA Wofford, which uses a mix of the wishbone and wing-T formations, to 78 yards rushing on 45 carries and 154 yards overall.
Bednarik completed all six of his passes for 90 yards and he rushed for 22 more yards. The sophomore led three of his team's five scoring drives. He completed a 27-yard scoring pass to Darius Reynaud in the first quarter and capped West Virginia's first possession of the second half with a 3-yard touchdown run for a 28-0 lead.
The latter was set up by Jeff Noechel's interception of Josh Collier -- one of four Wofford turnovers.
New Mexico 45, Missouri 35
COLUMBIA, Mo. -- Hank Baskett caught 10 passes for 209 yards and a career-best three touchdowns, helping New Mexico pull away in the fourth quarter.
Kenny Byrd's 40-yard field goal snapped a fourth-quarter tie and Baskett's 9-yard touchdown catch from Kole McKamey with 2:01 clinched it for the Lobos (2-0), who scored 17 points in the final quarter.
They spoiled Missouri's home opener despite a record-breaking day from quarterback Brad Smith, who ran for touchdowns of 31 and 15 yards, threw for a third score and broke two school career scoring records.
Smith also had a career-high 29 rushing attempts for Missouri (1-1), but threw two interceptions and lost a fumble that was returned for a touchdown. Gabriel Fulbright had both of the interceptions.
Smith set school career records for yards passing and yards rushing while going 32-for-55 for 248 yards and gaining 165 yards on 29 carries. He already holds records for total offense and passing touchdowns.
Shepherd 24, Slippery Rock 7
SLIPPERY ROCK, Pa. -- Dervon Wallace scored a pair of touchdowns and Jarome Quinata returned an interception for a touchdown to lead Shepherd over Slippery Rock.
Shepherd (3-0) picked off Slippery Rock's Nate Crookshank twice and recovered two fumbles on the night, while Shepherd did not turn the ball over once.
Slippery Rock (0-3) opened the scoring with a 45-yard touchdown pass from Crookshank to Paul Favers on its first possession, but was unable to get anything going for the rest of the game. Corey Manfull led Slippery Rock with 123 yards on 19 carries.
Geneva 20, Bethel, Tenn. 14
BEAVER FALLS, Pa. -- Justin Sciarro threw a pair of touchdown passes to Michael Lehman and Zach Blair kicked two field goals to lead Geneva.
Sciarro and Lehman hooked up for a 3-yard touchdown pass in the first half, sandwiched between Blair's two field goals -- one that he banged through from a career-best 50 yards with 1:26 left in the half.
Bethel (1-2) answered with an 8-yard touchdown pass from Brent Dearmon to Demareo O'Neal on the next possession.
But Geneva (2-0) proved to be too much as Sciarro hooked up with Lehman again, this time from 27 yards out to give the Golden Tornadoes at 20-7 advantage.
Sciarro finished 16-of-24 for 183 yards and Brandon Nathan rushed for 143 yards to pace Geneva on the ground.
