CEREMONY Masonic lodge installs officers, presents awards

YOUNGSTOWN -- The installation of officers was on the agenda when Temple on the Hill High Twelve Club 720 met Sept. 9 at Youngstown Masonic Temple. Past president John R. Selders conducted the meeting.
Howard C. Bodine Jr. was installed as president, and seated as his associate officers were Clare E. Beckman, first vice president; Robert L. Musgrove, second vice president; Allen G. Bohr Sr., third vice president; Ray B. Nevel, secretary; Richard R. Roumfort, treasurer; Selders, chaplain; and Clarence E. Shawver III, sergeant at arms.
Serving as trustees will be John V. Fay, chairman, and Selders and August A. Angel. Other officers are: P. Glenn Ellis, Wolcott representative; James W. Hill, Masonic representative-historian; Wallace B. McCartney, program chairman; and Bodine, publicity chairman.
Background
Bodine served in the Army in Korea and retired from the retail grocery business in 1988 after becoming secretary of the Scottish Rite. Raised in Western Star Lodge 21, F & amp;AM in 1956, he served as worshipful master in 1977 and has been treasurer since 1979. He is a past high priest of Youngstown Chapter 93, Royal Arch Masons, past illustrious master of Buechner Council 107, Royal and Select Masons, and a past commander of St. John Commandery 20, Knights Templar, and is presently secretary and recorder of these bodies. He was inducted into Ohio Priory 18, Knights of the York Cross of Honor, and serves as warder.
He is an active member of several Masonic organizations, has received many honors and degrees and has held a wide variety of offices. He and his wife, Carol, live in Canfield and have two sons and a daughter. He is a member of Christ's Church at Canfield and serves on the church cabinet.
Serving as installing officers were McCartney, immediate past international president; Thomas S. Bevington, international second vice president; and other Ohio state officers.
Recipients of awards
Three Star Awards were presented by Mrs. G. Edward Humphrey to Selders, Hill, McCartney, Roumfort, Bodine, George H. Wadge and Ellis.
Wadge, Wolcott Foundation trustee, presented a Centurion Memorial Certificate to Mrs. Humphrey, and Bodine presented a new member certificate to Wadge. A Heritage Bond was presented to Bevington by Gwen Gordnier, Twelvettes president.
Vocalist Loren Coler dedicated two numbers to Bodine and to the late G. Edward Humphrey, immediate past president.
