Author to visit Warren on book tour
WARREN -- Author Franco Antonetti of Arizona will visit the Warren-Trumbull County Public Library, 444 Mahoning Ave. N.W., at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 22 as part of a cross-country tour to promote his book "I Wouldn't Die: A Memoir" (Via Novi Press, 254 pages). The presentation is free and open to the public.
"Wouldn't Die," as evident from its title, is an autobiographical account of the author's life -- from his immigration from Italy to the United States shortly after his birth in 1944 to how a positive attitude and determination helped him overcome poverty, adversity and several brushes with death to achieve success in the trucking industry and in life.
For more information about this or other library program and services, call (330) 399-8807, Ext. 128, or visit www.wtcpl.lib.oh.us. More information about Antonetti's book is available at www.francoantonetti.com.

"Journey of a Yemeni Boy" by Rashid A. Abdu, M.D. (Dorrance Publishing Co., $35)
It's the autobiography of Abdu, who overcomes his impoverished beginnings in Yemen and with perseverance and a kindly American benefactor fulfills his life's dream to become a doctor. "Ohio Volunteer: The Childhood and Civil War Memoirs of Captain John Calvin Hartzell, OVI." Edited by Charles I. Switzer (Ohio University Press, $28.95)
This autobiography by the Portage County resident offers modern-day readers a glimpse into 19th-century life in rural Deerfield and a soldier's experience in the Ohio Volunteer Infantry during the Civil War. Hartzell's memoirs were confined to the privacy of his family for more than a century until a descendant provided a copy of the manuscript to Switzer, emeritus administrator and professor of English at Eastern Illinois University, who edited and added an introduction to it's new book form.
"Serenity Springs, Ohio" by Lillian K. Duncan (Publish America)
This second novel by Duncan, a Christian fiction writer, is the first in a mystery series that focuses on a small-town police chief and his aunt who comes home after retiring because of Lupus. Duncan's first novel, "Shattered," was published in 2004. She also has written an eBook, "Smarten Up Your Kid (and have fun doing it!)," in which she shares her years of experience as a speech-language pathologist in the Cleveland school district to help parents improve their children's language and communication skills. "Serenity" is available through Publish America, at traditional and online bookstores, and from Duncan at her Web site: www.familyfriendlyfiction.com.
