Tickets go on sale today for two concerts -- one in Pittsburgh and one in Cleveland -- to benefit victims of Hurricane Katrina.
In Pittsburgh, Mellon Arena will be the site of a Sept. 23 concert that will include the area's top musical acts, including the Clarks, Povertyneck Hillbillies, Donnie Iris, Joe Grushecky, Bill Deasy, B.E. Taylor and Margot B, with other surprise guests possible. Past and present Steelers, Penguins and Pirates players will be lending their time, and both Toys for Tots and the Humane Society will be on hand, collecting donations and items.
Tickets are $10 for general admission and $20 for reserved seats and are available through Ticketmaster.
Twenty pairs of front-row tickets will be auctioned off by Ticketmaster.com from Monday at 1 p.m. to Thursday at 7 p.m. The package will include two front-row seats, backstage passes and a meet-and-greet with the artists and personalities.
House of Blues
In Cleveland, House of Blues will be the site of a Sept. 28 concert by Coalition of the Willing, a Washington, D.C.-based band that includes Andras Simonyi, the Hungarian ambassador to the United States, and former Doobie Brothers and Steely Dan guitarist Jeff "Skunk" Baxter.
The American Red Cross will be on hand to accept monetary donations.
Tickets are $25 for general admission and $50 for VIP seating and are available through Ticketmaster. VIP tickets include a preshow hors d'oeuvres reception that includes a question-and-answer session with the band, and complimentary admission tickets to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
Coalition of the Willing also includes Alexander Vershbow, U.S. ambassador-designate to the Republic of Korea, on drums; Lincoln Bloomfield, former assistant secretary of state, on bass; and Daniel Poneman, former presidential aide, on guitar.
