AUSTINTOWN -- The First Ohio Chapter of The Federation of Families For Children's Mental Health will present the program, "School Guidance Counselors: Roles and Resources," from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at D & amp;E Counseling Center, 142 Javit Court. Susan Cerni and Theresa Delesandro, guidance counselors at Poland Local Schools, will be the speakers.
Doctor receiveseducational grant
AUSTINTOWN --Dr. Christopher Kenyhercz has been awarded a full educational grant to earn his doctorate in healthcare administration and policy at The Medical University of South Carolina. Kenyhercz, who maintains a part-time medical practice here, is chief operating officer of KROSS Healthcare Solutions, a subsidiary of KROSS Inc. of Hillsborough, N.J.
He received his master of healthcare administration degree from Seton Hall University and is an advisor with the Nitron Circle of Experts in Healthcare Administration/Consulting, The Gerson Lehrman Group Healthcare Council and The Society of Industry Leaders. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Health Care Compliance Association.
English professor to discuss work
NEW WILMINGTON, Pa.-- Dr. Bethany Hicok, assistant professor of English at Westminster College, will present "Stalking the Lesbian: Poets, Women's Colleges and Literary Crossdressing" at 7 p.m. Thursdayin Sebastian Mueller Theater in McKelvey Campus Center.
The presentation is part of a book she has just finished called "Degrees of Freedom: American Women Poets and the Women's College, 1905-1955."
Foreign languageclasses offered
YOUNGSTOWN -- Three levels of German plus beginning Spanish, Italian and French will be offered at four locations through the area.
Level 1 German, Italian, French and Spanish will be offered Wednesdays at Hubbard High School, Thursdays at Austintown Fitch High School, and Mondays at Poland schools. Levels 1 and 2 German and Italian will be offered Tuesdays at Hermitage Middle School, and Level 3 German will be offered at Austintown.
The classes are for adults and students 12 years and older. They begin the week of Sept. 26.

Free program explainsschool funding in Ohio
WARREN -- A free, public program to explain school funding in Ohio will be offered Wednesday at the board of education offices, 261 Monroe St. N.W.
One-hour sessions will be at 10 a.m. or 7 p.m. School district staff, parents and community residents are invited to attend. Phillip D. Butto IV, district treasurer, will present the program.
Attendees will learn about local, state and federal funding, including district valuations and tax rates, basic aid and enrollment, as well as House Bill 66. If interested in attending, call (330) 841-2321, ext. 204 to reserve a seat.
Cuban Guy to speakat Malone College
CANTON -- The Cuban Guy, a popular motivational speaker, will be on the Malone College campus Sept. 27 as part of a Multicultural Student Emphasis Week celebration.
AndresLara, his given name, fled from Cuba at the age of 16. He spoke no English, had no money and was homeless when he reached the United States. At age 24, he had become an internationally known speaker, president of Inspiration Time Magazine, CEO of A Success Training, Inc. and author of several books, including "How to Stay Motivated During Difficult Times."
The free presentation will begin at 7 p.m. in the Stewart Room of the Randall Campus Center.
TCTC offers coursein practical nursing
LORDSTOWN -- Trumbull Career & amp; Technical Center, Adult Training Center, 1774 Salt Springs Road, will start a new part-time evening practical nursing program for adults beginning in January.
The class will run three nights a week and take two years to complete, making it appealing to those interested in a health-care career, but who must work while attending school.
Pre-entrance testing for the January evening program or the full-time day program -- next class will start August 2006 -- will be 4 to 9 p.m. Tuesday or from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. Oct. 5 in Champion.
