Jewish film expert to speak
YOUNGSTOWN -- Dr. Eric Goldman, a cinema professor, movie critic and Jewish film expert, will speak Sept. 24 at Rodef Sholom Temple, 1119 Elm St. His topic will be "America 350: The Jewish Experience through Film."
The cost is $5 per person and includes food and entertainment. Dinner will be at 7 p.m. followed by the lecture at 8:30. A community Selichot service will be at 10. Reservation deadline is Sept. 19. Contact the temple.
Christian singer to perform
BELOIT -- West Branch Ministerial Association will sponsor Steve Green, contemporary Christian singer, at 6 p.m. Nov. 6 at West Branch High School auditorium. All seats are reserved; tickets are $13. Sunday school classes
GIRARD -- Fall Sunday school classes for elementary- through middle-school pupils will begin at 11 a.m. Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road. Sessions are held during regular church services.
Event for children
COLUMBIANA -- A Kingdom Karnival for children is planned for next Saturday at Midway Mennonite Church, 13376 Canfield Road. There will be games, face painting, music, crafts and free food from 3 to 5 p.m. followed by a hot dog roast until 5:30.
Rally at Mineral Ridge
MINERAL RIDGE -- First Presbyterian Church, 3654 N. Main St., will sponsor a Rally Day on Sunday. Church school classes for all ages will begin at 9:15 a.m. Worship will be at 10:30, and third-graders will receive Bibles. Eric McClellan will be guest soloist. The church growth committee will host a lunch.
Ladies Day service
YOUNGSTOWN -- A Ladies Day service is planned for 4 p.m. Sept. 18 at Church of Hope Spiritual, 1315 Jacobs Road, with the Rev. Paula S. Lockett, pastor. The theme is "Daughter's Rejoice, Psalm 48:11," and the guest speaker will be Galen Roberts of Grace Evangelistic Temple. The program is being sponsored by the evangelist and missionary board.
Homecoming celebration
YOUNGSTOWN -- The 202nd homecoming celebration is planned for Sunday at Trinity United Methodist Church, 30 W. Front St. The worship service will be at 10:45 a.m. followed by a dinner with guest speaker Vince Camp of WNIO radio station.
Contribute at concert
YOUNGSTOWN -- Mount Sinai Missionary Baptist Church, 328 S. Forest St., will hold a gospel concert at 5 p.m. today, and those attending may contribute to the Katrina Relief Fund.
