XAUSTINTOWN -- The wedding of Michael J. Vlaiku and the former Janet L. Kennehan took place Aug. 6 at St. Joseph Church with the Rev. John Trimbur officiating at the 2 p.m. ceremony.
A reception was held that evening at St. Mary Assumption Social Center in Youngstown for the daughter of James and Rita Kennehan and son of Michael and Linda Vlaiku, all of Austintown.
After a honeymoon in Las Vegas, the couple live in Austintown.
The bride's white gown was adorned with rhinestones, crystals and sequins and featured a chapel train. Her veil flowed from a jeweled tiara, and she held a bouquet of purple and periwinkle roses and carnations.
Amethyst-colored gowns were worn by the bride's sister and honor attendant, Karen Kennehan, and the bridesmaids, Angela Rozzo, her aunt; Heather Kennehan, her cousin; and Irene Lyubuska. Junior bridesmaid was Sabrina Segretario, and flower girl was Cecilia Segretario, cousins of the bride.
Serving as best man was Shawn Rovnyak, and groomsmen were Andrew Jones; James Kennehan, the bride's brother; and Daniel Higbee. Junior groomsman was Dominic Mikula, and ring bearer was Brandon Mackovick, cousins of the bride.
Mrs. Vlaiku is pursuing a bachelor's degree in education at Youngstown State University and is employed at Giant Eagle.
Mr. Vlaiku will graduate from YSU in December with a bachelor's degree in professional writing and editing. He is employed at the Sherwin Williams Co.
