Dedication set for Healing Garden
WARREN -- The new Healing Garden at the St. Joseph Cancer Center on Eastland Avenue Southeast will be formally dedicated during a ceremony at 4:10 p.m. today.
The 20-minute program will be followed by tours of the garden.
The Healing Garden is designed as a unique place for patients, visitors and staff to read, rest, meditate and commune with nature.
Its construction is being underwritten by the St. Joseph Development Foundation, and it is being built in sections. Three major portions are complete: the entrance; a middle area featuring a reflecting pool, fountain and surrounding gardens; and a gazebo with surrounding gardens.
The dedication ceremony will kick off "A Taste of Our Community," the foundation's fund-raising effort to support future development of the garden.
"A Taste of Our Community" will feature gourmet food from Alberini's, Leo's Ristorante and Panera Bread; live entertainment; a silent auction; and the opportunity to purchase engraved tribute bricks and other furnishings for the garden. Tickets are $75.
St. Joseph Cancer Center is part of St. Joseph Health Center, a member of the Humility of Mary Health Partners.
