Children's choir to sing
NEW CASTLE, Pa. -- The African Children's Choir will perform at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Jefferson St.
Music for Life, the home organization of the African Children's Choir, is a Christian humanitarian organization dedicated to the education and care of abandoned children in Africa. Each year, a new choir is selected and choir children from the previous year return to their homeland to attend schools sponsored by Music for Life.

Bible study offered
GIRARD -- "The New Testament for Dummies" is the title of a six-week Bible study scheduled to begin Sunday at First Presbyterian Church of Girard, 890 Churchill Road. Sessions will be at 7 p.m. Sundays. Co-sponsor is the Southside Presbyterian Church in Niles. For information call (330) 505-1192.
Church plans Fun Day
GIRARD -- Girard First United Methodist Church, 22 N. Market St., will sponsor a Fun Day Sunday. Sunday school will begin at 9:30 a.m. for preschoolers through adults. The adult choir will provide inspirational music, and Vacation Bible School children will sing. At noon there will be a carnival in fellowship hall featuring food, games and prizes. The Rev. Learn about the Bible
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Valley Institute of the Bible will hold fall and spring classes on the topics Major Bible Themes I and II. Sessions will be from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. Tuesdays, starting next week through Dec. 13, at the Rescue Mission of Mahoning Valley, 2246 Glenwood Ave. The spring session will be Jan. 17-April 18. Rally at Grace Lutheran
EAST PALESTINE -- Rally Day will be Sunday at Grace Lutheran Church, at the corner of Grant and Walnut streets. Beanie the clown will visit Sunday school at 9:30 a.m., and a helium-balloon launch will follow the session. There will be special music and a children's sermon during the worship service at 10:45. A free luncheon is scheduled for 11:45.
Bluegrass music
DIAMOND -- The Valley Mountain Boys, a bluegrass music group, will perform from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. Sept. 18 at Palmyra United Methodist Church, 3968 state Route 225. United Methodist Women will sell refreshments.

Pastor to speak
BOARDMAN -- The Rev. Norma Jean Binkley will be guest speaker at the Greater Youngtown Chapter of Flame Fellowship International on Sept. 18 at Georgeanna Parker Activity Center in Boardman Township Park. Fellowship starts at 6:30 p.m. and the ministry at 7. She is from her home church of The Place the Lord Provides and Righteousness Being Restored Ministries.
Give your testimony
YOUNGSTOWN -- Testimony night is scheduled at 7 p.m. Sept. 26 at Lifecare Ministry Center, at the corner of Shields and Raccoon Road. John Beggs will speak on "Changed by Grace." Refreshments will follow.
Intercessory prayer is from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesdays, Bible study from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, and testimony night is 7 p.m. the fourth Monday of the month.
Youth conference on tap
YOUNGSTOWN -- The Youth Ministry of Tabernacle Baptist Church, 707 Arlington St., will have a youth conference, "Survival in the Presence of the Lord," Oct. 1. The program will include physical and spiritual preparation. Registration will start at 9 a.m.
