Suzanne Gomochak of Boardman, a nurse who was director of the Lead Poisoning Prevention Program for the county's board of health from 1992-98.
Gomochak's r & eacute;sum & eacute; says she coordinated and assisted in obtaining the county's first lead hazard control grant and supervised the program's staff. She later worked for a Pittsburgh law firm that handled lead litigation.
She was coordinator for quality assurance, risk assessment and staff development at Austintown Surgery Center and now works at a Youngstown law firm reviewing and analyzing medical records for malpractice suits.
She has a bachelor's degree in professional arts from St. Joseph's College in Windham, Maine, and a nursing diploma from the St. Elizabeth Hospital School of Nursing in Youngstown.
Jeffrey Patterson of Canfield, interim director of the Home Energy Services program operated by the Mahoning Youngstown Community Action Partnership. He also has been the director fiscal operations there since 1995.
His work includes grant writing, accounting and working with state and federal programs, according to his application. He also has been a treasurer and controller and vice president of administration for local firms.
He is a certified public accountant with a bachelor's degree in accounting finance and a master's degree in business administration from Youngstown State University.
Scott Pike of Delaware, Ohio, chief deputy county engineer for Delaware County, was offered an interview but declined.
He spent six years as Delaware County's director of environmental services, which included oversight of the county's sanitary engineering, code compliance and solid waste departments. He has worked as an engineer in various capacities in Delaware County government since 1989 and a few private firms.
He has a law degree from Wake Forest University School of Law and a bachelor's degree in civil engineering from Ohio Northern University.
