Hungarian Heritage Day to be observed Sunday



YOUNGSTOWN -- Authentic Hungarian folk art, music and food will be available during the annual Hungarian Heritage Day celebration to be sponsored by the Youngstown American Hungarian Club from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the clubhouse, 2219 Donald Ave.
Featured at the event will be Andrew Check, 11, a seventh grader, who will play the cimbalom.
The folk art display will include such items as paintings, photos, clothing, handwork and figurines dating back to the early 1900s.
The menu for the day will consist of Hungarian goulash, stuffed cabbage, chicken dinners, cabbage and noodles, kolbassi and sauerkraut, and various pastries such as crepes and dobos torta.
There will be a boutique stocked with preserves, spices, noodles, clothing, books, cassettes, cards and other Hungarian items.
Steve Pal and his orchestra will play American and Hungarian music for dancing or listening.
Secured parking will be available. Admission is $2.
