ARTS AND CRAFTS SHOWS
XCraft vendors are wanted for the third annual craft show at Maranatha Church, 2570 Elm Road N.E., Cortland, from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Sept. 24. The outdoor event is free and complete with food, bake sale, crafts, entertainment and a Chinese auction. For more information call (330) 399-1812.
XWomen's Guild of St. Vincent de Paul Parish, 4453 Warren-Sharon Road, Vienna, will present its annual arts and crafts show from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturdayin the church hall. There will be over 40 crafters featured. Additional attractions will include a craft giveaway and bake sale. The bargain room will include a "Home Decorating on a Budget" sale. There will be lunch specials featuring hot sausage, sloppy joes, cabbage and noodles and pirogi. Parking and admission are free.
AUCTIONS
XTickets are being sold for the sixth annual Chinese auction at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 10143 Main St., New Middletown, to be held Oct. 2. Doors will open at 2 p.m., and the drawing begins at 4 p.m. The cost is $5. Only 300 tickets will be sold at the rectory from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday. CARD AND BINGO PARTIES
XAs part of the activities during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, Bingo for a Cure will be held Oct. 18, at the Holiday Inn Metroplex Centre, 1620 Motor Inn Drive, Liberty. Doors will open at 5 p.m. and bingo begins at 6:30 p.m. Also included will be auctions, door prizes and a buffet. Individual tickets are available for $25 per person. A table hostess package is $200 and includes eight admission tickets, a certificate displayed at the table, a thank-you gift and your name entered in a prize drawing. Sponsorship opportunities are available for $200 and include one admission ticket, an eight-foot skirted display table, a recognition certificate, the chance to provide a promotional item for bingo giveaway bags and an acknowledgment in the program. XOur Lady of Hungary fall card and bingo party and fashion show will be held at 2 p.m. Sept. 18 at Cardinal Mindszenty Hall, 545 N. Belle Vista Ave. Refreshments will be served. Admission is $4. Proceeds will benefit the improvement projects of the church.
DINNER DANCES
XSons of Italy Campbell Lodge 2720 is sponsoring a scholarship fund-raiser dinner dance Sept. 24 at ITAM Post 3 on Meridian Road, Youngstown. The doors will open at 6 p.m., and dinner will be served at 7. Dancing will be from 8 to 11 p.m. Set-ups will be furnished, and there will also be an Italian gift auction, door prizes and a raffle. The cost is $22.50 per person. All proceeds will be applied to the Scholarship Fund for an eligible high school senior. FLEA MARKETS
XITAM Post 3, 113 S. Meridian Road, Youngstown, will hold a flea market from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Space is available for $15 for one day and $25 for two days. FUND-RAISERS
XA car show will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Sunday at The Sandwich Factory in the Oakmont Plaza, Columbiana, as a benefit for Katrina Morris, 2, who suffers from a rare congenital syndrome and has spent her whole life in and out of hospitals. There will be a disc jockey, door prizes, awards and a 50-50 drawing. Trucks and motorcycles are also welcome, and donations will be accepted. The rain date is Sept. 18.
RAFFLES
XThe quilt created by members of the Canfield Historical Society that was awarded a second-place ribbon at the Canfield Fair will be raffled off Dec. 1. Tickets are available for sale at the Bond House, 44 W. Main St., Canfield, or from society members for $1 each or $5 for six. The quilt was designed by Sue Bell and constructed by members of the society to represent historical buildings in Canfield.
SALES
XGirard Historical Society will host its annual trash and treasure sale from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday and Sept. 17 and 18 at 600 N. State St., Girard, as a fund-raiser to support the continuing restoration of the historic Barnhisel House and Museum. For more information, call Sally Curl at (330) 539-6196.
XThe Day Circle of Southington United Methodist Church, Routes 305 and 534, Southington, will have a rummage sale from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday. Lunch of homemade soup, sandwiches, drinks and pies will be served, and carryouts will be available. Bag day will be from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.
SPECIAL EVENTS
XColumbiana Public Library, 332 N. Middle St., will hold its seventh annual Road Show for antiques and collectibles from 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday in the Salchow Room. Local dealers with a variety of specialties from fine china and jewelry to baseball cards and marbles will be available to provide information and estimates of value on items brought. Library materials on antiques and collecting will be available for use, and door prizes will be given. No pre-registration is required, but the number of the items per person may be limited.
