VIENNA -- Trumbull County Planning Commission representatives will speak about airport/airbase zoning at the Sept. 12 meeting of the Vienna Township Neighborhood Watch. They will answer questions regarding changes in zoning and how they will affect the township. The session will be at 7 p.m. at the town hall.
Legal aid volunteers
YOUNGSTOWN -- Community Legal Aid is seeking volunteers for its Volunteer Advocacy Legal Unit program. Volunteers are stationed at the Mahoning County Courthouse and assist domestic violence victims with the process of getting a civil protection order. Volunteers must complete certification training and be available twice a month from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. People interested should contact the VALU office at (330) 742-5857.
Mosquito Lake talk
CORTLAND -- Cindy Orth, a naturalist and park officer at Mosquito Lake, will speak about the reservoir at 10 a.m. Sept. 13 at the Lake Vista Clubhouse, 303 N. Mecca St. There is no charge. For reservations, (330) 638-2420. Orth has worked with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources since 1989.
Lessons in Italian
Italian classes will be offered at these locations: St. Charles Church in Boardman from 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, beginning Sept. 12, and at Blessed Sacrament Church in Warren from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesdays beginning Sept. 14. Call Lio Comichista at (330) 545-1525 for more information.
Donate cellular phones
NEW CASTLE -- Donate used cellular phones to a worthy cause. The Crisis Shelter of Lawrence County collects them and gives them to women in crisis. They can be used to make 911 calls only. The phones that the Crisis Shelter can't use are sent to a collection center to be refurbished and sent on to other shelters turning the project into a fund raiser. If a school or business would like to be a collection site, call the Crisis Shelter at (724) 652-9206, ext. 105.
Elm Street church event
YOUNGSTOWN -- Trash and Treasure Day at Nevels Temple Church of God in Christ, 939 Elm Street (across from Wick Park) will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
