Area men honored for leadership, service
Members are elected to receive Scottish Rite 33rd degrees in Chicago.
GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. -- During the annual meeting of the Supreme Council of the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite on Aug. 30 in Grand Rapids, Robert E. McBride II, John T. Remias and Steve J. Schlosser Jr. were elected to receive the Scottish Rite 33rd Degree next August in Chicago.
The degrees will be awarded in recognition of their active service in Masonry and for their outstanding leadership in the community.
McBride, a member of Argus Lodge 545 in Canfield, is a past sovereign prince of Youngstown Council Princes of Jerusalem; chairman of the family life program, for which he reinstated the Family of the Year award; and chairman of the annual Walkathon to benefit the 32nd degree Masonic Learning Center for Children, where he serves on the board of governors. He has taken part in several degrees, is active in several adult civic committees and youth organizations and is a member of St. Charles Church. He is general sales manager for Compco Industries. He and his wife, Mauree, have three sons.
Remias, also a member of Argus Lodge 545, is a Scottish Rite Class Adviser and serves on the reception and scholarship committees and on the board of governors of the Learning Center. He has parts in several degrees and is a member of numerous Masonic bodies, civic and social organizations. A retired educator, he is a member of the United Church of Christ. He and his wife, Margaret Ann, live in Austintown.
Schlosser is a member and past master of Wick Lodge 481 in Youngstown. For the past two years he has served as commander-in-chief of Mahoning Consistory. He has been chairman of the Valley Banquet committee for many years and has major parts in several degrees. He is vice chairman of the Scottish Rite Board of Trustees and a member of other Masonic bodies. He is a driver-salesman and is a member of Christ's Church in Boardman.

A reception will be held Oct. 29 at Youngstown Masonic Temple to honor Gregory B. Anstrom, Allen G. Bohr Sr., Daniel A. Brown and Frank T. England who received degrees at Grand Rapids.
