9 people receive various penalties
Two incurred drug-related charges while traveling on Interstate 80.
MERCER, Pa. -- A Detroit man was sentenced to seven to 14 years in prison for several drug-related offenses Thursday in Mercer County Common Pleas Court.
Judge Thomas Dobson imposed the sentence on Juan Boykin, 33, for two misdemeanor counts of possession of a controlled substance, two felony counts of possession of cocaine and heroin with intent to deliver and one felony count of conspiracy/possession with intent to deliver.
According to court documents, Boykin was apprehended July 22, 2004, on Interstate 80, Shenango Township, with the drugs.

Several others were also sentenced. According to court documents:
UCurtisy Hilton, 28, of South Mercer Avenue, Farrell, was sentenced to one to 18 months house arrest and ordered to perform 100 hours community services for theft by deception, a misdemeanor. Between July 9 and August 16, 2004, she made a false return for merchandise at Hermitage store then pocketed the $1,600 she received.
UPaula Ingram, 35, of Prospect Street, Sharon, was sentenced to seven days to 18 months in jail for simple assault and given 24 months probation for two counts of resisting arrest. She was also given seven days credit for time served. On March 4, 2005, she punched an officer from the Southwest Regional Police Department while being arrested at a Farrell house for striking another woman. The officer suffered a scratched face and split lip.
UNathan Jones, 21, of Beaver Falls, was placed on one year's probation for two counts of misdemeanor bad checks. He was ordered to pay restitution and perform an unspecified amount of community service for misdemeanor forgery and ordered to pay restitution. On Jan. 13, 2004, he passed a $1,400 check at a Farrell store knowing it would not be honored. On May 22, 2004, he issued a $2,400 check to a man in Farrell address for a motorcycle, knowing the account had been closed. And between Feb. 9 and 15, 2004, he used another man's credit card to obtain service and goods worth $815 at Sharon establishments.
UAaron Moon, 19, of East Butler Street, Mercer, was sentenced to one to 10 months in jail followed by six months probation for theft by unlawful taking or disposition, a misdemeanor. The term will be followed by six months probation, and he was given 16 days credit for time served and ordered to make restitution. In January, 2005, he forged seven checks totaling $1,100 at the Mercer County State Bank 71 Main Street, Fredonia.
UCheyenne Morgan, 48, of Pittsburgh, was sentenced to six to 12 months in jail and six months probation for felony retail theft. He was also ordered to make restitution. On Feb. 11, 2002, he stole two pairs of shoes valued at a total $140 at Factory Brand Shoes at the Prime Outlet Mall, Pa. Route 208, Springfield Township. He was also found in possession of a razor blade knife and wire cutters.
UPhillip Root, 26, of New Castle Avenue, Sharon, was sentenced to 12 to 24 months in prison for theft by unlawful taking or disposition and defiant trespass, both misdemeanors. On June 10, 2005, he entered a Sharon home and took an air conditioner.
UGregory Roshetko, 23, of Hemptling Court, Harmony, was placed on six months unsupervised probation for possessing drug paraphernalia. He was apprehended last October on Interstate 80, Findley Township, with drug paraphernalia.
UPatrick Shearer, 46, of Ambridge, was placed on one year's probation for firearms not to be carried without a license, a misdemeanor. He was apprehended July 13, 2004, with a loaded .357 Magnum in his vehicle.
