City man faces felony charges

YOUNGSTOWN -- A Fairmont Avenue man remains in Mahoning County jail on felony charges of possessing criminal tools and two counts of breaking and entering. A municipal court judge set bond at $5,000 for each charge.
Larry Brown, 52, also pleaded innocent to a charge of driving under suspension.
Judge Robert P. Milich said bond for that charge would be $2,500, and he set a preliminary hearing for Sept. 8.
Brown is accused of stealing windows Tuesday night from two vacant houses on West Lucius and West Ravenwood avenues.
Residents on both streets contacted police with reports of three males and one female in a blue pickup truck who were stealing windows from the houses.
Police stopped the vehicle at Fifth and Federal streets and inside found Brown, a 48-year-old woman and two teenagers, later identified as Brown's son and his friend.
In addition to several windows, police also found a hammer, tire iron and two screwdrivers in the back of the truck.
An elderly Lucius Avenue resident told police that multiple people had kicked in the back door of the nearby vacant house. But the woman riding in Brown's vehicle said she and the teenagers remained in the truck and were unaware of what Brown was doing, reports show.
The woman and the two teenagers were questioned and released.
