ARMS MUSEUM Founders Day to feature open house, tours

YOUNGSTOWN -- The Arms Museum, 648 Wick Ave., will host its annual Founders Day open house in celebration of the 130th anniversary of the Mahoning Valley Historical Society on Sept. 10.
The free event features historic photographs of the Arms family, pioneer games and tours of the Arms Family home.
Also featured this year is the new Anne Kilcawley Christmas Hands-On History Room. Artifacts, books, games, activities and crafts exploring the history of the Mahoning Valley await visitors to the interactive gallery.
Open to the public for the first time during Founders Day, the history room will allow families to get up close and personal with their community's history and to dig into the people and places that make the Mahoning Valley what it is today.
Architectural walking tours of Wick Avenue will run concurrently with the open house. Starting at the Arms Family Museum and continuing down both sides of Wick Avenue to the crossing with Wood Street, these tours will look at the architecture of Wick Avenue past and present.
The tours will explore the many architectural styles that have given Wick Avenue its appearance from the 1800s to today.
RSVP to the Mahoning Valley Historical Society if you are interested in attending the event.
