XCAMPBELL -- Valerie Voytilla and John J. Putnam were united in marriage at 2:30 p.m. Oct. 7 at St. John the Baptist Slovak Catholic Church during a ceremony solemnized by the Rev. Howard Ziemba and the bride's cousin, the Rev. John Voytilla.
Parents of the bride are George and Mary Voytilla, 491 Sixth St., Struthers, and the groom's parents are John L. Putnam of Harrison, Mich., and Susan James of Vernon, Ariz.
The couple were honored during a reception held at the Davis Center in Fellows Riverside Gardens in Youngstown. Afterward they left on a wedding trip to their home at 17320 SE Alder St., Portland, Ore.
The bride's two-piece ivory ballgown was embellished with sequins and embroidery and featured spaghetti straps and a corset style back.
Wearing black gowns were Amy Rusu, the honor attendant, and the bridesmaids, Heather Leash; Emily Voytilla, the bride's sister-in-law; Kristi Kollar; and Kristen Mottram. Flower girl was Haley Rusu.
Best man was Alan Goodrich, and groomsmen were Gregory Voytilla and Randall Voytilla, brothers of the bride; Robert Frisbee; and Orion Johnson. Ring bearer was Anthony Bastuba, the groom's nephew.
The bride attended Slippery Rock University and Youngstown State University. She was a sales and warehouse supervisor with Mikasa in Grove City Pa.
The groom, a platform validation test engineer with Kelly IT Services in Hillsboro, Ore., graduated from Oakland University. He served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
