Brooke's pregnant again,her publicist confirms
LOS ANGELES -- Actress Brooke Shields, who turned a battle with postpartum depression into a book, is pregnant with her second child, her publicist said.
The baby is due in the spring, Alan Eichorn confirmed.
After Shields and husband Christopher Thomas Henchy gave birth to daughter Rowan Francis in 2003, Shields chronicled her post-pregnancy experiences in "Down Came the Rain: My Journey Through Postpartum Depression." The book was published in May.
The "Suddenly Susan" actress said she considered swallowing a bottle of pills or jumping out the window at her lowest point. A doctor later attributed her feelings to a plunge in her estrogen and progesterone levels and prescribed the antidepressant Paxil.
Shields has played Roxie Hart in the long-running Broadway revival of "Chicago" since Sept. 9 and is set to continue in the role until Oct. 30. The show is in its ninth year on Broadway.
The actress scored a critical and popular success in New York last season when she stepped into the role of Ruth Sherwood in the revival of "Wonderful Town."
Shields also has appeared on Broadway as Rizzo in the revival of "Grease!" and as Sally Bowles in "Cabaret."
Prince Charles struggles'to remain relevant'
NEW YORK -- Feeling important can be difficult -- even for a prince.
Prince Charles, heir to the British throne, says he struggles against the perception of being royalty disconnected from the public.
"It's very easy to just dismiss anything I say. ... It's difficult," Charles, 56, says in an interview to air tonight on CBS' "60 Minutes" (7 p.m. EST).
"The most important thing is to remain relevant," he says. "It isn't easy, as you can imagine."
Charles says he's combated this by working on environmental and social class issues. An avid organic farmer, he has developed a village called Poundbury built of native or recycled materials where people of all income levels live.
"What I've tried to do is put my money where my mouth is as much as I can ... by actually creating models on the ground."
He has also founded 14 charities.
"Worrying about this country and its inhabitants -- that's my particular duty," says Charles in the rare American TV interview. "And I find myself born into this particular position. I am determined to make the most of it."
Charles and his wife, the Duchess of Cornwall, begin a weeklong tour of the United States last week.
Chesney: Music helped meafter marriage fell apart
NEW YORK -- Kenny Chesney says his music has helped him deal with the breakup of his brief marriage to "Bridget Jones" actress Renee Zellweger.
"It's like medicine -- and obviously I need that now," the 37-year-old country singer tells Life magazine in an upcoming issue.
His new album, "The Road and the Radio," is set for release Nov. 8.
Zellweger filed for an annulment from Chesney last month. The couple married in a surprise Caribbean island ceremony in May after first meeting in January.
Chesney tells the magazine he has learned that he needs to be more patient. "'I need it all and I need it now' was my mentality before. I used to rush everything to get it done."
Including marriage?
"What was that old song: 'We got married in a fever, hotter than a pepper sprout,"' Chesney replies.
Junior Gotti pays visitto his father's tomb
NEW YORK -- John A. Gotti, known as Junior, visited his dad's Queens tomb for the first time, on what would have been the Dapper Don's 65th birthday.
Gotti, 41, was in prison when his father, John Gotti, died of cancer in 2002.
He and his mother, Victoria Gotti, stayed at the St. John's Cemetery in Middle Village for about an hour Thursday and prayed quietly at the mausoleum. The family tomb bears the Gotti name and holds John Gotti and his 12-year-old son, Frank Gotti, who was killed in a car accident in 1980.
Junior Gotti is under house arrest while prosecutors mull whether to try him again on racketeering charges. He got out of jail last month after a jury deadlocked on charges including an accusation he ordered a hit on radio host and Guardian Angels crime-fighting group founder Curtis Sliwa in retaliation for his on-air rants against the senior Gotti.
Federal court officials gave him permission to leave his Long Island estate to visit the cemetery. He generally can leave his Oyster Bay Cove home only to visit his doctor or his lawyers or to attend church.
Parking attendant filesa lawsuit against Sharif
LOS ANGELES -- The problem with being a man of the world is you sometimes end up with the wrong currency. A parking attendant in Beverly Hills is suing matinee idol Omar Sharif, claiming the actor attacked him because he could not accept payment in euros.
In his lawsuit filed at Los Angeles Superior Court, Juan Anderson alleges that when he went to retrieve Sharif's Porsche SUV at a popular steakhouse, the 73-year-old "Doctor Zhivago" star handed him a 20 Euro note. Anderson asked for payment in dollars. The New York Daily News reports that the request enraged Sharif, who called the attendant "a stupid Mexican" and punched him in the face, drawing blood. (Just for the record, Anderson is Guatemalan.)
Sharif's lawyer, Martin Singer, termed the suit "ridiculous," maintaining "the only reason he got sued is because he was a celebrity."
