C.H.A.I.N., veterinarians link up to help animals
An annual Chinese Auction has been scheduled for Nov. 6 by C.H.A.I.N. (Community Helping Animals in Need), a nonprofit organization. The event will be held at St. Luke Catholic Church, 5235 South Ave., Boardman, where doors will open at 1 p.m. and drawings will begin at 3.
Proceeds from the event will be used to help control the pet overpopulation problem in the area. The group provides financial assistance for owners who can have their pets spayed or neutered at a discount rate.
C.H.A.I.N. works in cooperation with several area veterinarians in Trumbull and Mahoning counties to provide the services to people based on income, number of pets and the individual's situation at the time.
Since its inception in 1995 the organization has spayed or neutered more than 6,000 cats and dogs, thus reducing the need for euthanization, and keeping the animals from becoming endangered when roaming through the communities.
Admission to the event is $4 and includes refreshments. For more information contact Sheryl Goodrich, (330) 758-7710.
