Mathews wins volleyball title over Aquinas



LISBON -- Jenna Manz scored 13 points and had 26 assists as the Mathews High volleyball team defeated St. Thomas Aquinas in three sets to win the Division IV district championship at David Anderson High School.
Sophie Paddock added 18 kills, 12 digs and four blocks Friday for the top-seeded Mustangs (20-2), who posted a 25-20, 25-15, 25-22 victory. Karen Pilati had 10 points and two aces.
Carly Pavlick and Rachel Drakulich each scored 10 points for Aquinas, which ended the season with a 14-9 record.
The Mustangs will meet the Medina district winner Thursday in a regional semifinal match at Twinsburg High.
